Although Lil Wayne won’t perform at Super Bowl LIX in his hometown of New Orleans, he stays in the spotlight. In an unexpected move, he revealed the release date of his much-anticipated album, Tha Carter VI, via a new Cetaphil advertisement.
Launching on February 6, the advertisement adopts a whimsical tone, featuring Wayne adeptly guiding individuals through uncomfortable social scenarios with his characteristic charm. The standout moment occurs at the end, as he declines VIP game tickets, remarking, “Nah. This is time-sensitive.” The scene then focuses on a recording studio door, displaying a note that says: “Do not disturb ‘til 06-06-25. CARTER VI.”
This announcement arrives amid questions regarding Wayne’s nonappearance at the Super Bowl Halftime Show, where Kendrick Lamar will perform. In a conversation with Rolling Stone, Wayne shared, “While the world recognized my disappointment, what they didn’t realize was how it fueled my determination to create something much larger.”
Tha Carter VI is now confirmed to release on June 6. Check out the complete advertisement above.
