Moon-phase watches have always been the more romantic part of mechanical watchmaking, and Oris is giving that tradition a simpler, fresher look. Unveiled at Watches and Wonders 2026, the redesigned Artelier Complication reduces the busier layout of the previous model and puts the moon phase clearly in the spotlight, balanced by a useful second-time-zone display below.

The new style comes from Oris Product Design Engineer Lena Huwiler, who was only 24 when she redesigned the collection. She chose to cut the previous four small dials down to two, creating more space on the textured dial and letting the moon-phase display stand out as the watch’s main feature. The watch comes in three clear colours—ivory, midnight blue, and chestnut—with each option available with either a leather strap or a stainless-steel bracelet.
Although the Artelier Complication has a clearly more modern style, it keeps the simple elegance and mechanical feel that have long defined Oris dress watches. Now that the introductions are done, let’s take a closer look at how the independent Swiss watchmaker has updated this familiar model.

he Artelier Complication is housed in a 39.5mm multi-piece stainless-steel case, with its slender bezel allowing the dial to occupy much of the watch’s face. That dial is divided into three areas, combining a grained central section with a smooth, gently curved outer ring and two recessed counters. Oris offers the design in midnight blue, ivory and chestnut, with the first two maintaining matching subdials while the chestnut edition uses darker counters to create greater contrast.
The redesign was led by Oris Product Design Engineer Lena Huwiler, who was 24 when she was entrusted with giving the Hölstein watchmaker’s established dress model a younger, more urban identity. Earlier versions carried four separate displays for the day, date, moon phase and second time zone, but the new layout removes the day and date to concentrate attention on the moon phase at 12 o’clock and the 24-hour second-time-zone counter at 6 o’clock.
“The most radical decision early on in the process was to use only two of the previous four counters, thereby controlling the focus and leaving a contemporary, uncluttered dial with sufficient space for the moon phase,” Huwiler explained. The space created by that decision also gives the applied markers, square-tipped hands and new sans-serif lettering more room to breathe, resulting in a dress watch that feels lighter and more contemporary without losing its mechanical character

The redesigned moon-phase display sits at 12 o’clock and stands out as the main feature of the Artelier Complication. Oris replaces the usual narrow opening with a rounded, star-filled counter and a wide arched window that shows more of the moon’s path across the night sky. A large faceted hour marker above the display highlights the complication and keeps the dial balanced.
The moon-phase counter pairs with a 24-hour second-time-zone display at 6 o’clock, creating a more balanced and open layout than before. Celestial details bring a touch of romance without turning the watch into a novelty, and Super-LumiNova on the hour and minute hands makes it easy to read in the dark.

Powering all three Artelier Complication models is Oris Calibre 782, an automatic movement arranged around the watch’s cleaner, two-complication layout. Alongside the central hours, minutes and seconds, it drives the moon-phase display at 12 o’clock and the 24-hour second-time-zone counter at 6 o’clock, while a stop-seconds function and fine-timing device allow for more precise adjustment. The additional displays can be corrected using the crown and discreet pusher built into the case.
Measuring 30mm across, Calibre 782 runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides approximately 41 hours of power reserve. Turning the watch over reveals the movement through the exhibition caseback, where Oris’s signature red rotor adds a welcome flash of colour and reinforces the mechanical character beneath the Artelier’s restrained exterior.

After its first showing at Watches and Wonders 2026, the Oris Artelier Complication was released in May 2026 and can be bought at Oris stores, approved sellers, and online. The three dial colours—midnight blue, ivory, and chestnut—are available with either a leather strap or a stainless-steel bracelet.
The models with the dark-brown leather strap are priced at USD $2,950, while stainless-steel bracelet versions cost USD $3,150. Both use a butterfly clasp, leaving a modest $200 difference between the dressier leather option and the more versatile bracelet.
At these prices, the Artelier Complication combines classic Swiss watchmaking, daily usefulness, and modern style. Its simpler design lets the moon phase stand out. The second time zone adds real value, making this a great comeback for the collection.
