FC Barcelona has officially unveiled its new away kit for the 2026–27 season, and this one carries a little more weight than your typical yearly shirt refresh. The Kobe x FC Barcelona 2026–27 collaboration continues the club’s partnership with Nike and the Kobe Bryant brand, introducing a new Kobe Bryant-inspired “Barça Mamba” Away Kit that brings the worlds of football and basketball together in tribute to Kobe’s legacy and the mentality that made him one of sport’s most enduring icons.
Built around the Mamba Mentality, the latest Barça Mamba chapter takes the connection between Kobe and FC Barcelona beyond a simple crossover. Kobe was famously a football fan, while Barça’s identity has long been shaped by ambition, confidence and an expectation to keep pushing forward. For 2026–27, those shared values are woven directly into the kit, creating something that feels as much like a tribute to Kobe Bryant as it does a new FC Barcelona away shirt.

A deep black base gradually transitions into a rich purple towards the bottom of the jersey, immediately calling back to the colours so closely associated with Kobe throughout his career. Gold detailing adds another layer to the design, while subtle snakeskin-inspired elements reference the Black Mamba identity without making the whole thing feel overly themed. It’s bold, but still clean enough to look and feel like a proper Barça kit.
The Kobe influence becomes even more obvious on the chest. Instead of Nike’s traditional Swoosh, the shirt carries the Kobe Sheath logo, positioned opposite an iridescent FC Barcelona crest. Barça is also offering Kobe-inspired typography for shirt personalization, bringing another basketball-influenced detail into the football world. The typeface draws on ideas closely associated with Bryant — precision, discipline, elegance and speed — rather than simply borrowing the visual language of one of his signature sneakers.

One of the best details, however, is hidden away. Inside the collar sits one of Bryant’s most memorable messages: “Leave the game better than you found it.” It’s a small addition that most people won’t even notice when the shirt is being worn, but it arguably says more about the collaboration than any logo could. Kobe’s legacy was never only about championships or individual performances; the Mamba Mentality became shorthand for constantly working, improving and pushing beyond whatever you thought your limit was.
That philosophy is also at the centre of Barça’s campaign for the collection. Players from across the club’s men’s and women’s teams feature in the launch, including Pedri, Gavi, Frenkie de Jong, Alejandro Balde, Claudia Pina and Ewa Pajor. The message is less about simply putting Kobe’s name alongside FC Barcelona and more about connecting two sporting identities built around the pursuit of excellence.

Of course, underneath all of the storytelling, this still has to function as a modern football kit. The player version incorporates Nike’s latest performance technology, including AeroSwift and Dri-FIT ADV, with a lightweight and breathable construction designed for competition. The black, purple and gold Mamba treatment also extends beyond the match shirt into a wider collection of apparel, giving the collaboration considerably more room than a one-off jersey.
And that’s probably why the whole thing works so well. Sports crossovers can sometimes feel like two famous names placed side by side and sent straight to the merchandise department. Kobe x FC Barcelona has a stronger connection. Bryant genuinely appreciated football and FC Barcelona, while the relentless pursuit of improvement represented by the Mamba Mentality fits surprisingly naturally alongside a club that has spent generations expecting excellence from its players.

The black-to-purple finish is dramatically different from Barça’s traditional Blaugrana identity, while the gold accents and Kobe detailing give it a look that could appeal well beyond Barcelona supporters. You don’t necessarily have to be a Barça fan — or even much of a football fan — to understand why a Kobe Bryant-inspired jersey might become desirable.
That crossover appeal could ultimately make the 2026–27 Barça Mamba Away Kit one of those shirts that becomes increasingly difficult to find once the season is over. Football shirts have become fashion pieces and collectibles in their own right, and combining one of the world’s biggest clubs with one of basketball’s most enduring names gives this one plenty going for it.
More importantly, though, the tribute doesn’t lose sight of the person behind the Mamba name. From the Sheath logo and snakeskin details to the message hidden inside the collar, Kobe Bryant’s influence runs throughout the shirt without completely overtaking FC Barcelona’s identity.
Mamba Mentality has made its way back to Barça for 2026–27 — and judging purely by the new away kit, it looks right at home.
