The final  countdown is set for Super Bowl LX, with the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks set to settle the score on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. For the longest time, NFL fan finally gets a matchup that brings one of the most intense championship games ever played.

Eleven years later, the memories are still fresh for many fans. The rosters look nothing like they did in 2015, but the memories of that game still linger on both sides. The last time both teams met ended with one of the most debated plays in Super Bowl history, when Malcolm Butler’s goal-line interception denied Seattle a second straight championship and handed New England another Lombardi Trophy.

For New England, this is their opportunity for the league to compete for the championships without Tom Brady after leaving for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020. As for Seattle, it’s the chance to finally rewrite the chapter that lingered in the minds of fans for more than a decade and bring back the trophy to the Pacific Northwest.

If you just started tuning in for the football, the halftime show, or trying to understand what all the fuss is about, this year’s Super Bowl is going to be interesting for many fans. From championship-winning coaches and franchise legends to rising stars looking to make their mark on the sport’s biggest stage, both teams arrive with plenty on the line.

Before kickoff, here’s everything you need to know about the Seahawks, the Patriots, and the road that brought them to Super Bowl LX.

The New England Patriots

Few teams in the NFL can match the success of the New England Patriots. Based in Foxborough, Massachusetts, the Patriots have spent decades establishing themselves as one of the NFL’s most successful franchises, winning six Super Bowls and at one point becoming unstoppable. Much of that success came during the Tom Brady and Bill Belichick era, a partnership that helped build one of the greatest NFL leagues sports have ever seen.

After 20 seasons, that came to an end in March 2020 when Brady left New England and joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In his farewell message, he thanked the team for “the past twenty years of my life” and expressed gratitude for everything the team had taught him. He also shared a message to fans, writing “Pats Nation will always be a part of me” and describing his time in New England as “the happiest two decades I could have envisioned in my life.”

While Tom Brady’s departure marked the end of an era for the Patriots, many began to speculate whether the team could return to the Super Bowl without its quarterback, who helped define the franchise.

It wasn’t long after finishing 4-13 the previous season that New England bounced back with a 14-3 record in 2025, completing one of the biggest single-season turnarounds in NFL history.  Their playoff run culminated in a 10-7 win over the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship Game, sending the Patriots to the 12th Super Bowl and putting them within reach of a record-breaking seventh Lombardi Trophy.

One of the main reasons for the turnaround was head coach Mike Vrabel, a former Patriots linebacker who returned to the League and quickly put his stamp on the team. His emphasis on toughness, accountability, and trust helped create a close-knit group that believed it could compete with anyone. The job he did throughout the season earned him NFL Coach of the Year honours, while offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels was recognized as Assistant Coach of the Year.

On the field, the Patriots were led by young quarterback Drake Maye, who benefited from an aggressive offseason in which the franchise spent heavily to strengthen the roster. The New England Patriots have spent more than $300 million on guaranteed contracts to accelerate the rebuild, bringing in talent on both sides of the ball. The defence, led by Pro Bowl cornerback Christian Gonzalez, became one of the toughest units in the league to play against. Aggressive, physical, and opportunistic, it helped set the tone for a season that few saw coming and played a major role in bringing the Patriots back to football’s biggest stage.

The Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks, on the other hand, had a tougher journey and might not have the Lombardi Trophy cabinet compared to the Patriots, but they’ve spent the last two decades establishing themselves as one of the NFL’s most respected franchises. The team captured its first Super Bowl title in 2014 behind the “Legion of Boom” defence, and since then, it has become a contender to be reckoned with. Now, more than a decade later, the Seahawks find themselves back on football’s biggest stage with a new generation leading the way.

The Seahawks’ road to Super Bowl LX has been one of the NFL’s best stories this season. In just his second season as head coach, Mike Macdonald helped turn Seattle into one of the NFL’s most complete teams. The offence, led by quarterback Sam Darnold, who averages 28.4 points per game, while the defence has become the backbone of the team’s success. Even though Darnold was once viewed as a draft disappointment, he enjoyed a remarkable revival in Seattle, putting together the finest season of his career and helping guide the franchise back to the Super Bowl.

Macdonald often credits his team’s success to its strong culture and to focusing daily on improvement rather than looking too far ahead. All season, he has praised players who embraced their roles, such as Barady Russell for his work on special teams. He also speaks highly of his offensive coordinator, Klint Kubiak, for his team-first attitude, and of special teams under Jay Harbaugh, which helped the Seattle Seahawks reach where they are and improve their turnover margin during their playoff run.

While the offence got a lot of attention, the defence became the heart of the team. Called the “Dark Side” defence, Seattle gave up fewer points than any other team in the league. Linebacker Ernest Jones IV and safety Julian Love led a tough, aggressive group that made things difficult for opponents and helped Seattle regain its reputation as one of the NFL’s toughest defences.

That same approach worked in the playoffs. The Seahawks earned their spot in Super Bowl LX with an exciting 31-27 win over the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship Game. Now, as they get ready to face Drake Maye and the Patriots, Macdonald and his staff know another difficult challenge. But after a season focused on discipline, defence, and protecting the football, Seattle heads to Santa Clara believing it has all the pieces needed to bring home a second Lombardi Trophy.

The Super Bowl History Between These Teams

When the Patriots and Seahawks meet in Super Bowl LX, it will be their first matchup on football’s biggest stage since Super Bowl XLIX in 2015 at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. That game is often called one of the best Super Bowls ever. New England beat Seattle 28-24 in a contest full of big plays and intensity. The Patriots were down 24-14 in the fourth quarter, but Tom Brady led two touchdown drives, connecting with Danny Amendola and Julian Edelman to take the lead. Brady finished with 37 completions on 50 attempts for 328 yards and four touchdowns, earning Super Bowl MVP.

Still, most people remember the ending. With Seattle down by four and just one yard from the end zone, many thought Marshawn Lynch would get the ball. Instead, the Seahawks chose to pass, and rookie Malcolm Butler intercepted Russell Wilson’s throw to Ricardo Lockette, sealing the win for New England. That play is still talked about by NFL fans more than ten years later.

The Players Who Could Decide Super Bowl LX

Every Super Bowl has its defining moments, and more often than not, those moments come from a handful of players rising to the occasion. For New England, much of the spotlight will be on quarterback Drake Maye. His rapid progress has been a major reason the Patriots are back in the championship game. On defence, cornerback Christian Gonzalez has become one of the league’s top defensive backs and will have the job of trying to slow down Seattle’s passing game. Running back Rhamondre Stevenson might also be key if the Patriots decide to run the ball and manage the clock.

Seattle also has plenty of players who can make a difference. Quarterback Sam Darnold is heading into the biggest game of his career after pulling off one of the NFL’s best comeback stories. Linebacker Ernest Jones IV and safety Julian Love have helped turn the Seahawks into one of the toughest defences in football. If Super Bowl LX is decided by a big turnover, a late drive, or a crucial defensive stop, it would not be surprising to see one of these players involved.

The Coaches Calling the Shots

The players will decide the outcome on the field, but the coaching battle is just as exciting. It’s one of the most interesting storylines going into Super Bowl LX. For the New England Patriots, Mike Vrabel has overseen one of the greatest turnarounds in recent NFL history, guiding the Patriots from a 4-13 season to a Super Bowl appearance in his first year as head coach. Despite being a former Patriots linebacker and Super Bowl champion, Vrabel brought toughness, accountability, and a winning mentality back to the team, helping restore the Patriots’ dominance.

On the other side of the field, Mike Macdonald has established himself as one of the brightest young coaches in the NFL. In just his second season as Seattle’s head coach, Macdonald helped build one of the league’s most complete teams. Both coaches have earned their leadership throughout the season, and with a Lombardi Trophy on the line, their decisions, adjustments, and game plans could prove just as important as anything that happens between the white lines.

What Makes This Matchup So Fascinating?

No matter what the analysis, statistics, or predictions say, they can never tell us exactly how the game will end—and that’s what makes the Super Bowl so special. Somewhere between the opening kickoff and the final whistle, a player will make a name for himself, a coach will make a defining decision, and a moment will unfold that fans will be talking about for years.

For the Patriots and Seahawks, everything that happened during the regular season no longer matters. The records, the playoff wins, and the journey to Santa Clara have all led to this one night. In a league built on parity, only one team will leave with the Lombardi Trophy. The rest becomes part of NFL history.

For now, the talking is over. The Patriots and Seahawks are set to decide it on the field. Enjoy the game, and we’ll be back after the final whistle to unpack the biggest moments from Super Bowl LX.

A full moon is undeniably magical—especially when it comes in full blush. On April 23, 2025, New York’s night sky will be illuminated by the Pink Moon, a celestial event long associated with new beginnings and the arrival of spring. While the actual moon won’t glow pink (despite what your Instagram feed might suggest), Swatch has embraced the name and transformed it into a collectible wrist-worthy moment.

Launching just before the lunar event, the OMEGA x Swatch Mission to the Pink Moonphase will be available for a limited time starting April 1, 2025. But make no mistake—this drop is more exclusive than ever. Unlike previous MoonSwatch releases, the Pink Moonphase will only be available at select Swatch stores around the world, particularly those featuring a miniature pink Rolling Planet—adorable mini Fiat 500s wrapped in bold MOONSWATCH branding. If you spot one, you’re in a store that’s part of the mission.

Highlights:

  • This model is a limited-edition collaboration between OMEGA and Swatch, inspired by the pink moon’s poetic beauty.
  • It features a 42mm stainless steel case with a black and silver-pink opaline dial, accented by grade A pink Super-LumiNova.
  • Quartz chronograph with moonphase indicator.
  • The watch retails for USD $310 and will be available exclusively at select Swatch boutiques starting April 1, 2025, featuring a pink Fiat 500 display.

The Pink Moonphase continues the playful yet thoughtful collaboration between Swatch and OMEGA, drawing inspiration from the original Speedmaster DNA while embracing a softer, more poetic design language. Housed in a 42mm stainless steel case with a 13.75mm thickness, the watch feels solid without being overbearing—balancing sporty specifications with everyday wearability.
