CES 2026 had plenty of new TVs and home entertainment gear fighting for attention, but LG brought along something rather interesting for the audio crowd. It’s called LG Sound Suite, and at its centre is the H7, which LG claims is the world’s first soundbar powered by Dolby Atmos FlexConnect. The big idea? Getting proper surround sound without having to organize your entire living room around where the speakers are supposed to sit.
Anyone who’s tried setting up a serious home theatre knows the struggle. You start with a TV and a soundbar, decide to add rear speakers, then a subwoofer, and suddenly you’re trying to hide cables and wondering if moving the sofa a few inches is really worth it. Great sound is one thing; actually making all the gear fit in a normal living room is another.

That’s where Dolby Atmos FlexConnect starts to make sense. Instead of demanding that every speaker sit in an ideal location, the system uses built-in microphones to figure out where the speakers are actually placed and adjusts the sound to suit the room. So if one speaker needs to live on a shelf and another ends up somewhere less than perfect, you have considerably more freedom to work around it.
The H7 soundbar is the heart of the setup. It runs LG’s α11 AI Processor Gen 3 and packs 12 drivers alongside eight passive radiators engineered by Peerless. LG has also fitted it with Room Calibration Pro, while its Sound Follow feature can use UWB on a compatible smartphone to adjust the listening sweet spot around where you’re sitting.
But you don’t have to buy the whole lot at once — or even own an LG TV. The H7 can be paired with M7 or M5 wireless speakers and the W7 wireless subwoofer, letting you start small and add to the system over time, all the way up to a pretty ridiculous 13.1.7-channel home theatre. Across the wider Sound Suite ecosystem, LG now offers as many as 50 possible configurations. And if your TV doesn’t support Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, including models from other brands, the H7 can act as the hub when connected over HDMI ARC/eARC. Own a compatible LG TV, meanwhile, and the M7 and M5 speakers can connect directly to it without needing the soundbar at all.

Of course, wireless surround speakers aren’t some brand-new invention. What makes FlexConnect more interesting is that it isn’t only about losing cables. It’s also about getting rid of the obsession with perfect speaker placement. Most living rooms weren’t designed around a Dolby Atmos system, and most people probably aren’t interested in rearranging their furniture every time they add another speaker.

LG has already started expanding the number of TVs that work with Sound Suite, too. Select 2025 OLED models, including the G5, C5 and CS5, received Dolby Atmos FlexConnect support through a software update in 2026. The system also picked up 16 “Best of CES” awards following its CES 2026 debut, suggesting LG might be onto something with the whole flexible-speaker idea.
Ultimately, that flexibility is what makes Sound Suite worth paying attention to. TVs are getting bigger, thinner and better-looking, but getting equally impressive sound into the same room can still involve far too much messing around. LG isn’t pretending one little speaker will suddenly give you a full cinema setup; instead, you can build the system around your space, put the speakers where they actually fit, let FlexConnect sort out the rest and, hopefully, spend more time watching the movie than calibrating the room.
