They compete in a 14-event global season from February to August, with established stars, major champions and emerging international talent chasing individual honours and team success. A revised points system, increased relegation pressure and larger team prizes have raised the stakes in every tournament.

For longtime followers, these changes make 2026 one of the most important seasons in LIV Golf’s young history. For 2026, LIV Golf will change from 54-hole events to 72-hole tournaments played over four days. Most events will take place from Thursday to Sunday, although the season opener in Riyadh started on a Wednesday. The league will keep its shotgun starts and no-cut format. The regular season will grow from 54 to 57 players, including 13 teams of four players and five independent Wild Card golfers who qualified through LIV Golf Promotions and the Asian Tour’s International Series.

LIV Golf has updated its points, prize money, and ranking systems to make every finishing place count. All 57 players now earn points at each event, with 1,000 points given out and 200 going to the winner. All 13 teams get both points and prize money. Weekly team prize money has doubled from $5 million to $10 million, and the season will award about $470 million in total for individual and team contests. The Lock Zone now includes the top 34 players; players ranked 35 to 46 are in the Open Zone, and those ranked 47th to 57th are in the Drop Zone, raising the level of competition throughout the season.

The 2026 LIV Golf season takes the league across several continents, beginning under the lights in Riyadh before travelling through Australia, Asia, Africa, Europe and the United States. The calendar was originally announced with 14 events, although LIV Golf Louisiana was later postponed and has yet to be rescheduled.

Jon rahm is the obvious name at the top of the list. The Spaniard has opened a clear lead in the individual standings, though Bryson DeChambeau and Joaquín Niemann remain dangerous whenever they find their rhythm. Tyrrell Hatton has also been remarkably consistent, while Lucas Herbert, Thomas Detry and David Puig have played some of their best golf of the season. Perhaps the most enjoyable story has been Anthony Kim’s return to form after years away from professional competition. Elvis Smylie and Josele Ballester have brought younger energy to the field, while proven winners such as Dustin Johnson, Cameron Smith and Sergio García can never be dismissed, regardless of where they currently sit in the standings.
